It’s that time of year again – college students just got back from winter break and are now planning for Spring Break. Team PORTOPONG, know all about spring break, being the inventors of the world’s first inflatable beer pong table we have had our fair share of spring break debauchery. So we put together some sage like advice for all you looking to take a trip down coco loco way, the following 10 tips come to you with experience and regret, be sure to read through and have fun. Don’t forget that a poolside game of beerpong with a PORTOPONG is always the #1 tip from us but read through these other good ideas:

Let people know where you are going. Just because your in college and have this new found freedom, it is still a good idea to tell someone that you will be out of the country for the exact days and what flight number your own.

Stay with a group of friends at all times. No one is going to attack a squad of people, the numbers are just not in there favor. Don’t go it alone. Follow the buddy system to the tenth power and all will be good.

Put plenty of ‘lube’ on! Make sure you are wearing sunscreen when outside. Nobody wants to be the person in every photo that looks like a chili pepper and can’t go out at night because they are do busy hosing down with aloe vera.

Shot! Shots! Shots! Sometimes water! If you’re planning to drink on spring break (yes – duh we know that’s why you go), make sure that you are also consuming plenty of H20 – not Gatorade or Red Bull.

Trust in your friends. After a couple of drinks you may think you are always right and the guy with the aviator sunglasses and shinny badge thing is a jerk, but you went on spring break with friends – trust in them if they say stop or no.

The most amazing deals for you. When you land and go through the airport terminal a flood of people are going to come up to you and say they are part of a travel agency waiting for you, they will offer you amazing offers for added fun. They all come with hidden costs and tricks. Stick to the plan and just make a bee line for the bus outside or van you arranged for.

Mom what do I do? At the time you need it most is when it won’t be available or way out of budget. Plan to bring a small first aid kit with some U.S. based over the counter drugs. Your mom or resident family nurse won’t be able to tend to you.

Did you bring protection? We actually aren’t talking about safe sex, although you should always practice safe sex, we are talking about bringing a key chain size canister of mace should you need to ward off any unwanted visitors.

Know your cellphone! We all love posting on facebook and twitter – it is apart of our culture and who want to see you double fisting two pina coladas at the beach with 20 people around you with yellow wristbands doing the same. But – in case you didn’t know your cell phone devices are out of the country so you are going to pay almost triple the costs. Either turn your data off on your phone or get an international plan.

Watch out for balconies! Yes it might be one of the coolest pictures of your life to lean over the balcony with sunglasses on and a bottle of booze, but falling off the balcony probably gonna cause death to become you – and that’s no fun for anyone..

Notice on the PORTOPONG table the valves are double reinforced and have two types, one for rapid inflating with an air pump and another for manually inflating by mouth. The photo on the right shows only one style air valve and being of poorer quality actually popped out on us when we blew it up.

The second grouping of photos (lower set) shows how the two tables differ in rack formation, notice the PORTOPONG table uses more material and reinforced cup holders to ensure cups from blowing around and movement in play. While the photo on the right shows how the table uses a triangular cavity with a thin plastic webbing. This design can cause cups to tilt and who know what will happen during a gust of wind while shooting at that last cup!

NFL
Lets start at the beginning, WHO DAT! The New Orleans Saints picked up right where they left off last season dropping the Vikings; the overall opening of the football season was a great show lead off with the great Dave Matthews Band!

From what we here New Orleans was closed that day, well work, school, and anything that sucks to do. But the Tailgates and Bars were open, and we are sure someone was partying with a portable beer pong table or something cool from PortopongX.

Great week all around the NFL, The Patriots welcomed back Wes Welker, who showed his ball returning for ACL surgery to grab 2 TD’s.

The Giants broke out the tables as Eli, who would have had an all world game if his receivers didn’t have butter fingers, as they beat up on the kittens out there in Carolina!!

The CALL! The Bears got lucky as the ball bounced their way… when the Refs blew the Lions final TD! Really I don’t know how many games of PORTOPONG they played but they for sure couldn’t figure out what was going on in that situation.

The Raiders got their balls Kicked in by Chris Johnson… and what’s that team. The Titans.

The Steelers showed their balls in the last in overtime against the Dirty Birds.

And Monday Night Lived up to the hype well at least defensively… the Dirty Sanchez showed how bad the J-E-T-S offence is against their Daddy Defense the Ravens! Ray Lewis talked the talk and walked the walk!

NCAA
The College season started last week too, but they played on a date that NO ONE WILL EVER FORGET 9-11. Team PORTOPONG, and The Tailgate Guys send our prayers and thoughts to the families of the heroes of 9-11, and to all our service men and women that are fighting everyday to help us have the freedom to enjoy our lives, and our tailgates! WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

The week was capped off with three really big games. First the TIDE vs. Penn State; Alabama feasted on some cheese steaks and took it to the Lions . Then Ohio St vs. Miami; The Hurricanes brought there A game, but the Buckeyes ended up double sinking to end the game. ND vs. Michigan- Great Game! All that has to be said here is it came down to the last cup!

Many people ask us at PORTOPONG if our inflatable beer pong tables are only suitable for playing in beaches, lakes or pools and the answer we have for them is absolutely… NOT.
